Who is eligible to purchase products from CollegeBuys Powered by thinkEDU?
While some of our products are available to everyone, most of the products are specifically for students (full time or part time) enrolled in a degree granting program at an accredited college as well as full or part time faculty and staff. Every product page indicates who is eligible to purchase that product. CollegeBuys can only sell to students/faculty/staff affiliated with schools listed here.

So how do you know I am who I say I am?
Because this isn't our first rodeo, as much as we would like to take your word, we can't. You can blame those weasels that told us they were Harvard students and it turned out that they were in their 60's and working for a fortune 500 company and are not enrolled in any school. That said, since most of the products we offer on our eStore have education discounts, we have to make sure you are indeed enrolled or employed at an accredited college or school. We have easy ways for you to do this:

During checkout, we will be using our online verification system to try to verify your academic status. If successful, you will receive an email that tells you we were able to verify you and your order will ship. If we were unable to verify you, you will receive an email with instructions on how to upload your academic verification. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive the email from us.

If you don't have the ability to upload your academic verification (making it into a file), you can fax it to us at 978-832-1065 (for fastest service, please include your order number). For products requiring academic verification, we need the verification prior to us shipping the product. (Tip: Use you iPhone and take a picture of your ID, class schedule, etc. and you can upload it to us!)

NOTE:? If the product SKU (part number) ends in ?X,? no ID is required. If the product SKU (part number) ends in ?A,? we do not need your ID to process your order, but you will need to provide your academic verification when you load or register your software. Product SKU?s ending with the letter ?A? are not returnable.

Note: If you are ordering a Microsoft product, your .EDU school email address is acceptable as proof of your academic status. Be sure to use your .EDU email address when checking out and we will process your order realy fast.

What is acceptable proof of academic eligibility?
You will need to submit one of the following documents:

College Students:
  • FREE Instant Online Verification (done online after checkout)
  • Current Student ID Card
  • Current Class Schedule
  • Registration Receipt for the current semester
  • Letter of Enrollment on School Letterhead
  • If ordering Microsoft products, you can use your .EDU school email address. Use when checking out.

  • Faculty and Staff:
  • Link to your educator listing on your school website
  • Dated School ID Card
  • Letter of Employment on school letterhead
  • Recent Pay Stub (feel free to mark out confidential information)

  • I'm just ordering a book. Do I need to send you academic verification?
    Great question! No you do not!! Many of our products such as books and hardware do not require any academic verification and is available to everyone to buy. Even some software products do not require academic verification. Aside from this being mentioned on the product ("No academic ID required"), every product that we offer that does not require academic verification has an "X" at the end of the SKU (product number).

    Can I order for my child, grandchild or my son?s friend that is always at our house using our computer and eating all our food?
    Yes! And may we say you are very generous. Simply place the order and indicate on the order the name of student you are ordering on behalf of. When you get to the Academic Verification process, enter in the student?s name and information, since he or she is the one that qualifies for the academic discount. If you are ordering for a college student, be sure to use the online verification option which is easy to use and allows us to process the order immediately.

    How long will you keep my ID on file?
    One year, so you can place additional orders during the year and you don't have to send your academic verification in again! If the academic verification has an expiration date on it, your ID will be on file and valid until your expiration dates expires.

    When are you open?
    We are open 24/7 at store.collegebuys.org. Our webstore is so intuitive and easy to use that you will probably want to place your order there. But in the event that you are not comfortable ordering online, please call our helpful sales department 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time Monday through Friday. You can also fax us an order if you would like to at: 978-832-1065.

    What type of payments do you take?
    We accept most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover) as well as PayPal. We do not charge your credit card until we are ready to ship your order.

    I ordered the wrong version of software. Now what do I do?
    Aside from possibly being deemed indecisive by your family and friends, we accept returns of most software products for 30 days from purchase and hardware for 15 days. Products must be unopened and in resalable condition. To return a product, email us and we will provide you with an RMA number. All returns must be accompanied by the RMA number, no exceptions. There is a 15% restocking fee.

    Unfortunately, there are some products that we cannot take returns on. The manufacturers do put some restrictions on us here. If a product is non-returnable, this is usually noted in the product description. Products we can tell you are non-returnable include:

  • Electronic Software Downloads (ESD)
    Microsoft Office University
    Any product that has a SKU (item number) that ends with an "A"
    Clearance items
    Items discontinued by the manufacturer
    Products returned in envelopes - only shipping boxes allowed
    Products returned without the RMA number
    Consumable products (such as toner, paper, ink cartridges)
  • Shipping and handling is not refundable (unless of course we made an error)

    We reserve the right to not accept a return if we deem the product is in resalable form and the product will be returned to you. We highly recommend that if you are returning a product to us, that you pack it well in a sturdy box and ship in a trackable manner (i.e. UPS, FedEX)

  • Can I cancel my order?
    If you purchased a download product, you can not cancel your order as these products are non-refundable. If for some reason you want to cancel your order that is being shipped to you (i.e. DVD Box Product), send us an email by clicking here. Keep in mind that we may have already shipped your order. If so, you will need to return the product using the guidelines found under returns.

    Is the software you sell legal and licensed?
    We won't take it as an insult that you would ask. Yes! We are an authorized educational reseller for the products you find on our website.

    What is the difference between the products sold at CollegeBuys and commercial versions?
    Absolutely nothing except outstanding educational discounts! The products are functionally identical to the commercial versions. In the majority of cases, if you are a qualified education customer, you are eligible to purchase one copy of the software at the educational discount. (If the software offers a choice to select Mac or Windows, you can order 1 of each, as these are considered two different products.)

    How many times can I install my software?
    Most products can be installed once on a single machine. However, there are exceptions to that. If multiple installs are allowed, it is posted in the product description page.

    What is the status of my order?
    We know you are anxious to get your product. You can check the status 24/7 on our site by logging in to your account. Make sure you have orders@thinkEDU.com added to your email address book so we don?t go into your spam mailbox.

    What is your pricing policy?
    Pricing and availability is subject to change. thinkEDU is not responsible for typographical errors.

    I found a product that you sell at a lower price somewhere else. Will you match the price?
    Yes! Prior to placing your order, if you find the identical product from a legitimate competitor, we match the price. You must provide us the details on where you found the lower price and we will determine if this is a legitimate seller and offer. We will not match pricing on products that are below our cost. (Price match excludes shipping and handling.)
